NSWIS squad member Ben Sim won the Kangaroo Hoppet for fourth time last weekend at Falls Creek. He beat Thomas Deizig of Swtizerland who just accumulated enough points to win the Continental Cup Series from Sim.
Three time winter Olympian Anthony Evans of Jindabyne had a wonderful ski to collect a podium finish eventhough he is now officially a Masters skier. Other NSW skiers in the top 10 were Alex Almoukov and Callum Watson. This year due to high winds and poor visibility the race was shortened to 25km. The womens event was won by former ACT skier Katie Calder who now skis for New Zealand.
In other events held on the same day the women's Australian Birkenbeiner was won by Sydneysider Lucy Glanville whist Ewan Watson also from Sydney came 2nd in the mens. In the Joey Hoppet Siobhan Jones and Gabriella Cigana came 2nd in 3rd respectively in the women's 7km.
