Hayler and Pullin miss out in World Champs

Damon Hayler and Alex Pullin have both missed a top ten finish in snowboard cross in the 2009 World Championships in Gangwon, Korea.Pullin had qualified well in 13th position, with Hayler a further four places behind, but both faced daunting challenges in the opening rounds of the head-to-head finals. Hayler drew current World Cup leader Markus Schairer in his round of 32 final, finishing in third place and missing a spot in the quarter final round, ending the day in 21st position.

Pullin was not much luckier, coming up against last season’s world number 2, Stian Sivertzen, in his opening final round, and also finishing third for 20th overall.Schairer went on to win the biennial title from Xavier De Le Rue of France, with Nick Baumgartner of the USA in the bronze medal position.

It was a disappointing result for Hayler in particular, coming less than a week after his maiden World Cup victory in Bad Gastein
